There are so many United legends that were once a signing fans knew very little about. Andrey Santos could end up being another.

Forget the transfer fee. Football has changed. Prices have changed.

Nemanja Vidic arrived from Spartak Moscow and became one of the greatest centre backs in our history. Patrice Evra came from Monaco. Park Ji-sung from PSV. Chicharito from Chivas. Nani from Sporting, one of my favourite players of all time. And Anderson from Porto, who won the European Golden Boy award in his first season.

None of these players arrived as United legends. They became legends because of what they did in a United shirt.

Why should United fans get behind Andrey Santos?

I am not saying Andrey Santos will be the next Park or Anderson.

I am saying every great United story has to start somewhere, and Andrey Santos is about to write his own. I have already seen so many people change their opinion after his first interview. Let him write his own history. We have had so many do it before. Why not again?
